About Me

  • I am married and have a little girl and a little boy.
  • I have degrees in Religious Studies and English Literature/Creative Writing.
  • I teach high school English.
  • I have 5 cats who were all strays that we yanked off the streets.  Who knows if they’re better off with us!  They seem to long for outdoor life…
  • The other day I looked at a little plaster cast I made as a sophomore in high school.  It’s my two hands together, as if in prayer, but also holding a pencil.  The pencil part is a real pencil.  I still think it looks neat, and I realized looking at it that some of the things that were important to me then are still important: the spirit “world” and writing.
  • I first started keeping a journal when I was in elementary school after my mom got me a copy of The Diary of Anne Frank.
  • I think Henry David Thoreau is radical.  He was a radical and he is radical.
  • The first post or so (June 2009) kind of lays out my thoughts on “blogging”.  It’s definitely a stress reliever, but the main reason I write is to have a record for my children if they are ever curious as to what goes/has gone through my head over the years.  I also want to feel, although I don’t say my name, that if someone reads what I write they will know who I am.

I like your ‘about me’. I started my motherknowsless blog half to mothers out there to let them know we are all amatuers at this, and half as a record to my children (4) of personal stories, ideas, confessions of an imperfect mom just in case I’m not there when they might need me later. (This is a good thing not morbid!) I really like your spiritual poems esp. Owl and I loved the Haiku about food and dance. Smile!

Wow… my husband and I have 5 and 1/2 cats. One was a gift and that got us started, the others were neglected, left behind when their owner moved away, and two injured strays. The fifth we tried enrolling into a good samaritan program that treats and finds homes for injured animals, but they had no room and took him to the shelter instead, insisting they would call if they were going to put him down. We received that call five months ago, he had contracted feline herpes and an upper respiratory infection, so we adopted him, quarantined and treated him for about a month, and now he is happy and healthy. You would never know he was sick. I say 5 and 1/2 because we have another lovable stray that lives on our back deck, who’s missing part of his ear from a fight. I just know he will become #6, and hopefully it will stop there. It’s nice to discover another cat lover, particularly one that understands the joy of rescue work. :)

They each have their own “personalities” don’t they? They’re a lot of fun : )
